Music Works Curatorial |
ZOHASTRE is the French-italian duo, whirlwind combination of spacio-tribal drums and bewitched electronics. Conjuring up harrowing medieval spirits & tripped out bag-pipe merriment with complex and repetitive rhythmic patterns, ethereal undulating sounds and guttural sub bass. Olmo and Héloïse play face to face, exchanging glances and extra-sensory perceptions, they synchronize waves and gusts to invoke the spirits of nature and the ancient gods. It sounds like you’ve crept up on a long-lost village in the valleys, peering over from behind the trees at night, staring at a huge flaming fire with the villagers dancing in circles, everyone possessed by the incantatory power of the moon and fire. Like troubadours from outer space, ZOHASTRE venture into an hallucinated quest, ecstatic and psychedelic cavalcade, through the night, the forest, the universe. Practicing hypnotic audio gestures, they unleash impro-ritualistic music for trance-like FX. Both primitive and futuristic, their music obliquely refers to a whole bunch of noise/rock/electronic approaches. They invent their own modus operandi to celebrate the eternal return and the cycle of life (( /\/ * http://www.zamzamrec.org/ZOHASTRE.html
